BUTUAN CITY – Over PHP9.8 million worth of illegal drugs were seized during the intensified anti-illegal drugs operations conducted by the Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-Caraga) from January to June this year.

Brig. Gen. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr., PRO-Caraga director, said at least 198 drug operations during the same period resulted in the arrest of 225 drug personalities and the killing of two suspects.

Based on the records presented by the Regional Operations Management Division (ROMD) of PRO-13, illegal drugs seized during the period include the 661.18 grams of shabu, 14,250 grams of marijuana, and 15 grams of cocaine, Esquivel said in a statement Monday (June 29).

“Last May 8, two anti-illegal drugs operations under Case Operational Plan (COPLAN) Everest-Bravo were conducted in Barangay Kasapa II in La Paz, Agusan del Sur where 4,000 and 6,000 marijuana hills were uprooted in two separate plantations amounting to Php800,000.00 and Php1,200,000.00, respectively,” the police official said.

Cases for violation of Section 16 of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were already filed against the owner and cultivator of the said marijuana plantations identified as Iming Tilocan, a resident of Sitio Landing, Kasapa II, La Paz, Agusan del Sur.

“I assure the Caraganons that we will sustain all our efforts against all forms of criminality in the region,” Esquivel said, citing the role of communities to enable the police to sustain the war on illegal drugs in the region.

“We are calling for your continuous support by immediately reporting to nearest police station any illegal activities or presence of criminals in your locality,” Esquivel said. (PNA)
