ZAMBOANGA CITY – An alleged drug pusher was wounded when he and a companion were arrested in an anti-drug operation in this city, an official said Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Jesus Cambay Jr., Police Regional Office 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) director, identified the wounded suspect as Jainudin Alanjina Itin, 50, and Nilma Amirul Sildin, 26, who allegedly yielded some 36.79 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP250,000.

Cambay said Itin and Sildin, described by the police as newly identified drug pushers, were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Arena Blanco here at about 8 p.m. on Monday.

Itin was wounded as a shootout ensued when he pulled a handgun and opened fire upon sensing they were transacting illegal drugs with an undercover policeman, police said.

Itin missed his target and was hit when the police officers returned fire. He was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The two suspects also yielded a caliber .45 pistol with four rounds of ammunition and the PHP500 marked money, police said.

Cambay said charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition would be filed against the suspects. (PNA)
