MANILA – Another Ceres Negros mainstay has just left the reigning Philippines Football League (PFL) champion.

Defender Jeffrey Christaens announced on Sunday he is leaving the club that he called home for six seasons.

However, the tone of his Instagram post announcing his decision to leave Ceres Negros further fueled speculations about the future of the club.

"It's sad what happened to this beautiful club," Christaens began his statement.

The ongoing row between the Yanson Family affected Ceres Negros since Vallacar Transit, which the family owns, mainly bankrolls the team.

Despite the family feud, Ceres Negros stayed in focus late into the PFL season last year and went on to capture the league and the Copa Paulino Alcantara titles.

The club's future suddenly became a hot topic when just one day after James Younghusband, another Ceres Negros star, announced that he is calling it a career, rumors swirled about the squad folding up.

PFL commissioner Coco Torre, though, said there was no formal withdrawal made by Ceres Negros, meaning that at least for now, the club is staying.

Meanwhile, despite the rumored shaky situation in the Bacolod-based club, Christaens was thankful to the team.

"You have a place forever in my heart!" he said. (PNA)
