ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) launched Monday “Disiplina Muna”, a national advocacy campaign to promote the culture of discipline among the people.

Led by Brig. Gen. Jesus Cambay Jr., PRO-9 director, the launch at the quadrangle of Camp Colonel Romeo Abendan in Barangay Mercedes here was highlighted with the recital of pledge of commitment and covenant signing, which marked the commitment of support of PRO-9 to the campaign.

The #DisiplinaMuna campaign is conceptualized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to promote the culture of discipline among Filipinos and encourage local government units to empower communities, Camabay said.

He said the initiative also aims to raise awareness among Filipinos of their role and responsibility in sustainable development and maintenance of peace and order "as a shared responsibility."

Cambay lauded the DILG for initiating the campaign even as he vowed to instill "sense of discipline and commitment of shared responsibility" among the police personnel in the region.

“Being in the law enforcement agency and as a citizen, the police should be first and foremost the role model because the police had no moral ascendancy to convey to the public to follow the rules and regulation, yet, we are the one who violate it,” the PRO-9 chief said.

The PRO-9 covers the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay and the cities of Isabela and Zamboanga. (PNA)
