Western Visayas logs 41 new Covid-19 cases, 12 recoveries

ILOILO CITY – Western Visayas recorded on Monday 41 new confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, raising the region’s tally to 593.

It also recorded 12 new recoveries, which increased the total number of recovered patients to 190.

In a virtual presser, Dr. Jocelyn Te, spokesperson of the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD6), said the new cases and recoveries were based on the 383 laboratory results released by the Western Visayas Medical Center sub-national laboratory (WVMC-SNL), Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital Molecular Laboratory (TLPH-ML) and the Qualimed Hospital Molecular Laboratory (QualiMed-ML).

Nine of the 12 new recoveries are from the province of Iloilo, particularly in municipalities of Alimodian with eight and San Dionisio with one; and also one each from Iloilo City, Bacolod City and Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

Of the 41 new cases, four of are under home quarantine, three are admitted in hospitals and the rest are facility-quarantined.

The new confirmed cases raised the region’s active cases to 392, of whom 334 are under facility quarantine, 30 are under home quarantine and 28 are still admitted in various health facilities.

Regional epidemiologist Dr. Jessie Glen Alonsabe said the specimens of the confirmed cases were taken from June 26 until July 3.

They were included in the 269 laboratory results released by three laboratory centers on Sunday. (PNA)
