3 kids, 5 others contract coronavirus in Pangasinan

SAN NICOLAS, Pangasinan – Four residents, including three children, from Barangay San Felipe East here and one resident each from San Manuel, Malasiqui, Labrador and Asingan towns are the new confirmed cases for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), while one recovery was recorded in Infanta town.
 
In a Facebook post on Tuesday evening, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) said the new confirmed cases are a 35-year-old male from Barangay San Roque, a 41-year-old male from Barangay Ingalagala, a 40-year-old male from Barangay Laois and a 23-year-old male from Barangay Carosucan. 
 
The youngest additional Covid-19 case in the province is a one-year-old male from Barangay San Felipe East in this town. 
 
Also from Barangay San Felipe East are a six-year-old female, an eight-year-old female, and a 47-year-old male. 
 
The additional cases in the province were not showing any symptoms except for the 47-year-old male from this town who has coughs, colds and fever, the PHO said. 
 
It added some of them were admitted to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) in San Carlos City, while others are to be confined in the same hospital Wednesday. 
 
In a statement, San Nicolas Mayor Alicia Primicias-Enriquez said the four new Covid-19 cases in the town had close contact with the first Covid-19 patient here. 
 
"The first Covid-19 patient remains asymptomatic and in good condition, along with his three children and stepfather who all tested positive, and are now at the PPH being closely monitored," she said. 
 
She added the whole Barangay San Felipe East is under lockdown as the other direct contacts of the patients are being monitored. 
 
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old female from Barangay Sitio Ballarta Poblacion in Infanta town has recovered. 
 
She was admitted at the Region 1 Medical Center on June 23. 
 
As of 6 p.m. on July 14, Pangasinan has a total of 127 confirmed cases, 86 of them have recovered, 32 are admitted to hospital and nine have died. (PNA)
