MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday reported 2,110 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the overall tally to 80,448.

The DOH said the additional cases reported were based on the total tests done by 66 out of 90 operational laboratories.

Majority of the newly announced cases are from the National Capital Region (1,345), Cebu (304), Laguna (109), Negros Occidental (66), and Rizal (40).

It also reported 382 new recoveries and 39 deaths.

These figures bring the total number of recoveries to 26,110 and the total number of deaths to 1,932.

"Of the 39 deaths, 35 or 90 percent in July, two or 5 percent in June, two or 5 percent in April. Deaths were from NCR which is 17 or 44 percent, Region 7 (Central Visayas) which is 14 or 36 percent, Region 4A (Calabarzon) which is two or 5 percent, Region 9 (Zamboanga) which is two or 5 percent, Region 11 (Davao) which is two or 5 percent, Region 1 (Ilocos) which is one or 3 percent and Caraga which is one or 3 percent. Seventy-four duplicates were removed from the total case count and of these, 22 recovered cases and three deaths have been removed,” the DOH said.

It also updated the outcomes of three cases -- one was previously reported as death but updated as recovered and two cases were previously reported as recovered but updated as deaths after final validation.

"These are included in the count of new deaths and recoveries. These numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation," it added.

The DOH also noted that there are 52,406 active cases and about 89.83 percent of them are mild, 9.25 percent are asymptomatic, 0.49 percent are severe, and 0.42 percent are critical.

As of Wednesday, a total of 1,232,957 individual tests were performed by the 70 licensed RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) laboratories and 23 licensed GeneXpert laboratories nationwide.

The DOH also has 16,065 total bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.

Occupied are about 51.6 percent of 1,361 intensive care unit beds; 51.1 percent of 10,877 isolation beds; and 57.1 percent of 3,827 ward beds.
