LEGAZPI CITY – The total number of laboratory-confirmed coronavirus diseases (Covid-19) cases in Bicol is now at 512 after 23 new active cases were recorded on Tuesday, the Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Bicol said.

“As of August 4, we have 255 active cases, 244 recoveries, and 13 deaths,” Dr. Ernie Vera, DOH-Bicol regional director, said in an interview on Wednesday.

The breakdown of cases, according to the agency, is as follows: Albay, 169; Camarines Norte, 10; Camarines Sur, 189; Catanduanes, 17; Masbate, 89, and Sorsogon with 38.

“Releasing of other details about the patients is at the discretion of the local government units concerned guided by the provisions of the Data Privacy Act,” Vera said.

DOH-Bicol asked the public, especially the locally stranded individuals (LSIs) returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and close contacts of confirmed Covid-19 cases, to strictly follow quarantine and isolation procedures.

"Stay calm. Everyone must follow all the health protocols such as social distancing, use of face mask, especially when outdoors, handwashing, cough etiquette, healthy lifestyle, and to stay at home. Cooperation and discipline from the public are crucial at this time of crisis,” the regional office advisory read. (PNA)
