Bataan records 23 new Covid-19 cases, 1 death

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Twenty-three new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and one death were recorded in this province based on the latest report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

This brought to 443 the total number of those infected with the dreaded disease and the death tally to 13.

Governor Albert Garcia said on Wednesday that a 77-year-old man from Dinalupihan was the latest fatality due to Covid-19 in the province.

He said the new cases are an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Orion, one each from Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Abucay and Orani; two from Samal, four from Limay and 12 from Mariveles.

Some of the new cases came from the United States of America while others had close contact with coronavirus patients.

With the new infections, the number of active cases rose to 163.

Meanwhile, six recoveries were also reported, bringing to 267 the tally of those who have beaten the dreaded disease. The towns of Dinalupihan, Orani and Mariveles have one recovery each while Limay has three.

In PHO’s Tuesday night report, out of the 8,474 that have undertaken Covid-19 tests, 443 tested positive, 7,689 were found negative and 342 are still waiting for the results. (PNA)
