ZAMBOANGA CITY-- The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that 191,383 students have so far enrolled in the local public schools since June 1, a DepEd official said Friday.

Dr. Rosalio Conturno, Jr., Education Supervisor for School Governance and Operations chief of the City Schools Division, said that of the number, 11,196 have enrolled in kindergarten; 97,073 in elementary; 64,291 in Junior High School; and 18,823 in Senior High School.

Conturno said the mode of enrollment, which is still ongoing, are online and face-to-face.

Conturno urged the parents to enroll early so that they will be able to determine how many modules they will have to prepare for the coming school year.

The opening of classes is scheduled for August 24.

Conturno said DepEd has scheduled an orientation for the parents, especially of children enrolled in lower grade levels.

“We are asking for the support of the parents since this coming school year will not be the same as the previous,” he said.

He said the teaching modalities will be online, modules, television and radio instructions, mix online and module, and house instruction.

The education official said they are still waiting for the modules, which will be given to the students every week. (PNA)
