Zamboanga Peninsula anti-drug ops net P1.1-M shabu

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Drug Enforcement Units of the Police Regional Office in Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) have arrested six people and seized over PHP1.1 million worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-drug operations in the region, an official said Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Jesus Cambay Jr., Police Regional Office-9 director, identified the arrested drug personalities as Asmad Alangan, 53; Melyn Jimlan, 32; Onaid Julhan, 54; Edren Circulado, 36; Ampad Punto, 48; and Allan Antalan, 41.

Cambay said Alangan, Jimlan and Julhan — described as newly-identified drug personalities — were arrested by the Zamboanga City Police Office’s Station 11 operatives in a buy-bust operation around 8:20 p.m. Monday in Sitio Pantano, Barangay San Roque here.

Confiscated from the three suspects were some 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP1.1 million, a red bag and PHP2,000 marked money and other pieces of evidence, police said.

Circulado, on the other hand, was arrested in possession of some PHP1,500 worth of suspected shabu, PHP500 marked money, and a motorcycle in a buy-bust operation around 8 p.m. Monday in Isabela City, Basilan, police said

Meanwhile, Punto also yielded some PHP5,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP500 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 4:30 p.m. in Barangay Dalangin, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Lastly, Antalan was found in possession of some PHP30,000 worth of suspected shabu and marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 8 p.m. Monday in Barangay Turno, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Cambay said all the suspects are now detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed against them. (PNA)
