CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Buses have been now allowed to ply inter-regional routes in some parts of Mindanao, the Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC) said Tuesday.

The YGBC said at least five routes have been reopened after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) have approved the resumption of these routes.

It can be recalled that bus operations were ordered suspended by the government following the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Celer Estologa, the YGBC spokesperson for Mindanao, said the bus company’s subsidiary Bachelor Express, Inc. was allowed to resume operations to ply those routes after complying with the requirements set by the LTFRB 13 (Caraga region), especially on the strict observance of health protocols inside buses and in terminals.

Estologa said the inter-regional trips are scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

The LTFRB said passengers from outside the region would only be allowed to board if they could present the required documents.

Passengers are also required to wear face masks at all times.

Starting August 15, the wearing of face shields would be mandatory.

Estologa said the YGBC would comply with whatever guidelines the IATF and LTFRB would issue in the future, keeping in mind the safety and well-being of its employees and the general public.

“Our critical role during these tough times is to lead our people on how to sustain and provide safe and better service to the riding public. Our natural resiliency is greater than the challenges brought by Covid-19,” he said. (PNA)
