MANILA – The joint administrative order (JAO) for the resumption of sports practices amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic is subject to changes.

In a joint statement on Monday night, the Department of Health, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), and the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) said they "will continuously update the joint administrative order and other applicable issuances based on emerging evidence and best practices".

For now, only athletes in sports under GAB and PSC's jurisdiction are allowed to train again amid the pandemic as long as the training area is under at least the general community quarantine status.

With the statement, it is possible the three agencies can also allow the club leagues not under GAB to have their member clubs resume practices.

Meanwhile, the DOH, GAB, and PSC are encouraging the professional leagues "to develop their health safety protocols and guidelines on the resumption of training and activities during the Covid-19 pandemic in conformity with provisions of the PSC-GAB-DOH JAO and other GAB requirements".

They also said that they are "open to provide technical assistance to sports associations in reviewing their health and safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals for the duration of the Covid-19 health event." (PNA)
