Cops raid shabu lab in Subic

SUBIC, Zambales – Authorities raided a warehouse allegedly being used as a shabu laboratory here under a search warrant on Thursday afternoon.

Col. Ponce Rogelio Peñones, Zambales provincial director, said the shabu laboratory in Barangay Cawag was reportedly operated by certain Mark Rae Lapid and Joven Salvador.

Salvador, alias Venjo, is believed to be the warehouse caretaker was arrested during the raid.

“Seized from the warehouse were chemicals and equipment that were being used to manufacture shabu,” Peñones said.

Christian Frivaldo, regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said based on the initial assessment of PDEA-3 Laboratory Section, the dismantled laboratory can produce at least a kilo of shabu per day.

A case for violation of Section 8 (manufacturing of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors and essential chemicals) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect. (PNA)
