COTABATO CITY – A pregnant 21-year-old from Taguig who recently returned to North Cotabato is the 59th confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patient in the province, provincial health officials said Friday.

Dr. Philbert Malaluan, provincial board member and spokesperson of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19, said the patient was a locally stranded individual fetched by the provincial “Task Force Sagip Cotabateños” at the Davao International Airport on Thursday.

“She is currently asymptomatic, on stable condition and isolated at the local government unit’s Covid-19 facility,” Malaluan said of the patient, who is from Kidapawan City.

Dr. Ted Calica of the Kidapawan City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit said the city disaster unit fetched the patient from the provincial holding center at the provincial capitol grounds in Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City and brought to the city Ligtas Covid-19 isolation center.

The woman who works in Taguig prior to the outbreak of Covid-19 in the National Capital Region was yet to physically meet her husband, parents, and relatives since she was brought directly to the isolation center for the mandated quarantine.

She was one of the six new cases reported in the Soccsksargen region as of August 27.

As of Thursday, the region registered 415 Covid-19 positive patients with 317 recoveries, for an equivalent of 76 percent recovery rate, and five deaths.

The total number of active cases in the region is at 93, the DOH-Soccsksargen Covid-19 tracker data showed. (PNA)
