COTABATO CITY – Five more coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients were added to the list of confirmed cases in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported Sunday.

Four of the five new cases were from Lanao del Sur and the fifth was from Sulu, according to MOH-BARMM minister Dr. Safrullah Dipatuan.

The Lanao del Sur data showed that two of the new cases were from Marawi City, and one each in the towns of Bacolod-Kalawi and Balindong.

As of Sunday, the region's cumulative cases since March rose to 652 with 166 active Covid-19 cases.

Sunday's case bulletin also included 10 recovered patients, raising the total number of recoveries to 469, which translated to a 72 percent recovery rate, according to the health ministry.

Meanwhile, no new cases were recorded in Maguindanao, according to Dr. Elizabeth Samama, chief of Maguindanao Integrated Provincial Health Office.

“All our active cases remained in isolation and are getting better every day. They are about to finish their 14-day quarantine,” Samama said.

Samama was referring to 34 police officers and police trainees who were tested positive of Covid-19 and are locked down inside Camp SK Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao.

The police officers were exposed to a tailor who conducted measurements among police officers for their uniforms. The tailor was later hospitalized in Iligan City upon his return after he was tested positive of the virus.

Meanwhile, Samama led the inauguration of the Ligtas Covid-19 center in Talayan, Maguindanao on Sunday.

With the inauguration of the Talayan Ligtas Covid Center, Samama said all 36 municipalities in Maguindanao now have their respective isolation facilities. (PNA)
