MANILA – The country will continue to experience fair weather, with the southwest monsoon still affecting Northern Luzon, a weather specialist said Thursday.

Loriedin de la Cruz of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said isolated rain showers may be experienced especially in the afternoon or evening.

"There is no low-pressure area inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but (PAGASA) is monitoring the typhoon outside PAR," she added.

Typhoon Haishen was last tracked 1,800 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

De la Cruz said Haishen might enter PAR by Friday, but only for a short period. Once inside PAR, it will be given the local name "Kristine", she said.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over extreme northern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
