BARMM records 8 new Covid-19 cases in Lanao del Sur

COTABATO CITY – Health officials in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have recorded eight new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the area, all coming from the province of Lanao del Sur.

In a report on Thursday, the Ministry of Health (MOH)– BARMM said five of the new cases are from Marawi City, while one each from the towns of Marantao, Ganassi, and Malabang.

With the new cases, the total number of confirmed cases in the region is now as 696 with 477 recoveries, or an equivalent of a 69 percent recovery rate.

The number of active cases is 201 with 18 deaths.

Lanao del Sur remains on top in terms of the number of cases in the region, with 351 cases, followed by Basilan with 108, Maguindanao (95), Sulu (18), Tawi-Tawi (4), and the 120 locally stranded individuals returning to the Basilan-Sulu-Tawi-Tawi area but were offloaded during the early part of July in Cagayan de Oro City .
