MANILA – The slots for the Masses set for the celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Manila Cathedral are now full.

“Reservations of the slots for Mass attendance on September 8, 2020 are now full,” the Cathedral said in an advisory posted on its Facebook account on Saturday.

It added that it is astonished by the response of the people but they have to limit the people due to the current situation.

“We are overwhelmed by the eagerness of many to be physically present for the Mass, but because of our present situation, we need to limit the number of people inside the Cathedral,” it said.

The Masses will be held at 7:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m., with an allowed maximum capacity of 80 persons for each Mass.

However, the faithful can still visit the Cathedral for private prayers on September 8, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“All celebrations are also to be live-streamed on our Facebook page and YouTube channel,” it added.

All Church gatherings are now allowed under general community quarantine but limited to 10 percent of the seating capacity of the church.

The Catholic Church celebrates the birthday of Mother Mary every second week of September. She was born in Nazareth, Galilee.

September 8 has been declared a special working holiday in the country to commemorate the religious occasion under Republic Act 11370 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in August last year. (PNA)
