COTABATO CITY – Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. has lauded the donation of bio-hazard supplies by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP)-Philippines as the province continues to reel off from infections caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Lanao del Sur, now with the highest prevalence of infections in the entire Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), has recently been placed under stricter quarantine protocols with the return of locally stranded individuals suspended due to the rapid rise of Covid-19 cases.

“This donation will augment our supplies. Our health frontliners need these supplies. We are grateful to the UNDP,” Adiong said in a statement Friday.

The provincial government received 200 sets of protective suits, 200 face shields, 1,000 disposable face masks, 200 KN95 facemasks, 2,000 pairs of shoe linings, and 2,000 pairs of hand gloves from UNDP-Philippines.

Lanao del Sur has Marawi City and 39 towns under its area of jurisdiction.

To date, the province has a cumulative total of 392 confirmed cases, comprising about 52 percent of BARMM’s 759 total cases since March this year. It currently has 157 active cases, with 15 deaths. (PNA)
