DFA reports 6 new Covid-19 cases among overseas Pinoys

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday reported six new infections among overseas Filipinos in the Asia Pacific and Europe, bringing the total coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases to 10,168. 

In a statement, the DFA said it also logged eight new recoveries and zero new fatalities, raising and maintaining the total to 6,421 and 768, respectively.

The active cases, pegged at 2,979, are mostly concentrated in the Middle East/Africa with 2,310, followed by the Asia Pacific with 301, Europe with 201, and the Americas with 167.

With the new cases reported from Europe, the DFA said the number of countries with Filipino Covid-19 patients also rose to 76.

"The DFA personnel in our foreign service posts remain steadfast in partnering with local health authorities and agencies in ensuring adherence of our people to preventive measures against (the) Covid-19 pandemic, and commit to tirelessly attending to the needs of our people affected by this pandemic, whenever possible," the agency said.
