COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) is urging the Philippine National Police, the National Bureau of Investigation, and Commission on Human Rights (CHR) to fast-track the investigation on the Aug. 29 killings of nine Moro farmers in Kabacan, North Cotabato.
In a resolution approved Thursday, the BTA strongly condemned the incident, as it urged law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators before the bar of justice.
“The BTA needs to have a stand regarding the massacre in Kabacan,” Member of Parliament (MP) Paisalin Tago, the principal author of the resolution, said.
The resolution is co-authored by 29 lawmakers both from the majority and minority bloc.
“Because of its necessity, we have to approve this. It reflects our dignity, our culture, and us as human beings and Bangsamoro people,” Tago said.
Fifty-four parliament members attended the resolution approval via an online teleconference.
Earlier, BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim has assigned regional public order and safety minister MP Hussein Munoz to lead a parallel investigation on the incident. (PNA)
