DOH-13 coronavirus disease case bulletin as of Sept. 17, 2020.

BUTUAN CITY – The city has recorded 26 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections and one death as announced by the Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) Thursday afternoon.

The latest cases brought the total number of Covid-19 infections here to 500 with 179 recoveries, 301 active cases, and 20 deaths.

At the regional level, Caraga now has a total of 902 cases with 479 recoveries, 396 active cases, and 27 recorded deaths.

The new infections, DOH-13 said, are all classified as local transmissions, with eight considered as new transmissions, five with close contacts with a previously confirmed case, 12 are health care workers, and a front-liner.

“Eleven of the new cases are asymptomatic, 13 are manifesting mild symptoms and two are with severe symptoms. They are now quarantined, monitored and managed accordingly,” the agency said.

The latest death involved a 72-year-old male here with hypertension, diabetic and chronic kidney disease who experienced fever, cough and body weakness on Sept. 8. He was admitted Sept. 10 but expired on Sept. 17.

The agency also took note of the increased local transmission cases in the region and in this city for the past weeks.

DOH-13 previously issued a call for the implementation of stricter health measures, particularly in areas with a high number of local transmissions. (PNA)
