MANILA – The National Capital Region Police (NCRPO) assured to shoulder the expenses of another police officer who died of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid19).

In a statement on Sunday, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas said the police officer assigned at the Eastern Police District (EPD), is NCRPO's fourth casualty from the coronavirus and the 347th confirmed case recorded by EPD.

Sinas said the cop tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept. 10 and was immediately confined after showing mild symptoms like cough and fever. Seven days later, the police officer died due to pulmonary embolism secondary to Covid-19.

Sinas said the NCRPO has already communicated with cop’s family and is now extending assistance, including cremation services and burial arrangement.

Prioritize health of police personnel

Sinas vowed to prioritize the health and welfare of the NCRPO personnel as he led the blessing of the Emergency Treatment Facility inside Camp Bagong Diwa Bicutan, Taguig City, on Friday.

“As the world continues to grapple with the current health crisis, the NCRPO did not stop in its commitment to prioritize the health and welfare of its personnel who are playing remarkable roles in this battle,” said Sinas.

He said the emergency treatment facility will house NCRPO’s Covid-19 patients with mild to severe symptoms.

Through the help of Infiniweb Technology Incorporated headed its president Sunny Liu, Sinas said the facility was realized and will be managed by NCRPO's medical team.

"Over the six months of being in the frontline of this plight, NCRPO's interventions to prevent the virus has been magnificent and effective. Nonetheless, we will continue what we have started and the public can be assured that front-liners who serve them day to day, are healthy, safe and free from the virus," Sinas said. (PNA)
