Cops with Covid-19 rise to 5,650

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that 119 more police officers contracted the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), bringing the total number of cases among its ranks to 5,650.

As of Thursday evening, the PNP Health Service said of the 119 new infections, 40 are from the National Administrative Support Unit followed by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) with 23, National Headquarters with 22, Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga) with 10, National Operational Support Units with eight, PRO 4-A (Calabarzon) with five, PRO 4-B (Mimaropa), 5 (Bicol), 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) and Cordillera with two each and PRO 3 (Central Luzon), 6 (Western Visayas) and 7 (Central Visayas) with one each.

Meanwhile, 4,407 PNP personnel have recovered from the disease while the death toll stands at 17.

The PNP Health Service is also monitoring 1,226 active cases.

Cops tested for Covid-19 observe a 14-day quarantine and undergo another test.

Once cleared, they have to rest for seven to 10 more days before going back to duty. (PNA)
