BUTUAN CITY – Surigao del Sur Governor Alexander T. Pimentel was admitted to the Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center in Tandag City, the hospital management said on Tuesday.

In an advisory, the hospital management said Pimentel, who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) last week, has shown mild symptoms and is "in stable condition."

“As of this writing, the honorable Governor has stable vital signs and no subjective medical complaints since admission,” it said, adding that he would be under continuous monitoring.

Pimentel is the first elected official in the Caraga region to have contracted Covid-19.

On Monday, Surigao City Vice Mayor Ernesto T. Matugas also announced that he had tested positive for the disease.

Matugas said he was experiencing early symptoms and in stable condition.
