COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics operatives nabbed here early Monday a big-time drug peddler and seized some PHP340,000 worth of suspected shabu.
Director Juvenal Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), identified the suspect as Nashrudin Kasan Roup, 45, of Barangay Poblacion Mother.
“Undercover agents managed to secure shabu from Roup at past 4 a.m. today (Monday),” Azurin said.
After he handed over the illegal drugs to the buyer, PDEA operatives, backed by police and Philippine Marines, swooped down on Roup’s residence and arrested him.
An unlicensed .45-caliber pistol was also seized from the suspect.
“We are still trying to determine Roup’s connection in the drug trade here,” Azurin said.
Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspect who is now detained at the PDEA-BARMM lock-up facility in this city. (PNA)
