BUTUAN CITY – Two businessmen were arrested during a court-ordered search conducted by the personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Barangay Mabini, Cabadbaran City on Friday morning (Oct. 9).

Capt. Dorothy M. Tumulak, Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) public information officer, said that businessmen Leonel G. Fajaron, 41, and Florencio G. Atenza, 32, were subjected to the search warrant issued on Thursday by Judge Ela De Villa Angeles-Lim of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) in Cabadbaran City.

Both are residents of Barangay Mabini, Cabadbaran City.

Seized from the suspects after the conduct of the search were four sachets of suspected shabu weighing seven grams with an estimated value of PHP82,600, police said.

“Leonel Fajaron is listed as a regional top priority for illegal drugs while Florencio Atenza is a newly identified drug personality,” Tumulak said.

PRO-13 director, Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat, Jr., assured Caraga residents of the continuing anti-drug operations of the PNP in the area amidst the pandemic.

“We are here to serve and protect the people of Caraga from all forms of threats and dangers, including illegal drugs,” Caramat said, even as he urged the resident in the area to report to police the presence of criminals or the occurrence of any illegal activity in their neighborhood.

14 arrests in a day

Tumulak also announced the arrest of 14 persons during the one-day implementation of “Manhunt Charlie” on Thursday (Oct. 8).

She said the simultaneous manhunt Thursday resulted in the arrest of six wanted persons in Surigao del Sur, three in this city, and one each in the provinces of Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Agusan del Norte.

“The arrest of these wanted persons is attributed to the commitment of our police force in giving Caraganons a safer place to live and to the strong support and cooperation of the community who immediately reported to the police the presence of these criminals in their locality,” Caramat said.
