ZAMBOANGA CITY--Six people were arrested while some PHP106,500 worth of suspected shabu was seized in separate anti-drug operations in the provinces of Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Sur, a police official said Wednesday.

Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office (PRO-9) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as 20-year-old Benhar Ahiya Mohammad, 22-year-old Nijar Ahiya Mohammad, Hapedtandual Abualas, 27; Mohammad Nijam Cuartocruz Omar, 26; Ebrahim Ahiya Bual; and Jul Kiram Dumadil Munto, 24.

Duco said all suspects except Munto were arrested by a team of police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives during a buy-bust operation around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Tenan, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Recovered from the five suspects were some 15 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of PHP102,000, illegal drug paraphernalia, and PHP13,500 boodle money topped with one PHP500 genuine bill, police said.

Munto, meanwhile, was arrested in a joint team of police and PDEA in a buy-bust operation around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay San Pedro, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, police said.

Munto, allegedly a newly-identified drug personality, yielded some PHP4,500 worth of suspected shabu packed in five heat-sealed plastic sachets and PHP500 marked money, police said.

Duco said the suspects were detained for the filing of charges in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
