Caraga tallies 237 Covid-19 recoveries in 5 days

BUTUAN CITY – A total of 237 recoveries were recorded in the Caraga Region in the last five days, the Department of Health in Region 13 (DOH-13) reported on Monday.

DOH-13 said total recoveries in the region is now 1,502 as of Oct. 18 from the 1,265 recorded on Oct. 13.

Meanwhile, the agency also announced 43 new Covid-19 infections that brought the total number of cases in the area to 2,268, with 670 active cases and 96 recorded deaths.

“The 43 new Covid-19 cases are now quarantined, monitored, and managed accordingly. Of the new cases, 31 are considered asymptomatic, 10 are having mild symptoms, and two have severe symptoms,” DOH-13 said in a statement.

The agency said 40 of the new cases are considered as local transmissions, which include one health worker and one front-liner.

Infected locally-stranded individuals (LSIs) in Caraga have already reached 303 while cases among returning overseas Filipinos now number 63, it said.

A total of 274 healthcare workers have also contracted the virus in the region since the start of the pandemic, with 80 more among other front-liners.

Meanwhile, DOH-13 said it has also recorded a high number of recoveries in Butuan City numbering 739 as of Oct. 17, out of 1,110 total Covid-19 cases in the city. This means the city has a remaining 328 active cases in the same period, with 43 recorded deaths. (PNA)
