CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – At least 59 farmers in Central Luzon have been given an opportunity to learn some technological and entrepreneurial skills that they could use to kickstart their own agribusiness ventures as they train under the tutelage of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) of the Department of Agriculture.

The 59 farmers are presently undergoing the seven-week online training dubbed as "Kapatid Agri Mentor Me Program" (KAMMP), a joint initiative of the ATI-Central Luzon (ATI-CL) and Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship Foundation, Inc.-Go Negosyo (PCE-Go Negosyo)

KAMMP is a coaching and mentoring program for agriculture enterprise, designed to sustain and scale up farming businesses.

The 59 farmers-mentees will be trained by agri-business practitioners from PCE-Go Negosyo, who have an extensive knowledge in their field.

The mentoring program is composed of modules focused on making a business out of farming.

ATI-CL Center Director Veronica Concepcion Esguerra said on Wednesday that agri-business industry experts and practitioners with an extensive knowledge in agricultural entrepreneurship were tapped to guide farmers in learning the modules.

She said the mentors will impart the proper production techniques, mindset and values, practical knowledge and strategies, and consultation services to foster successful and sustainable agri-enterprises to the participants in a way that is easily understood.

“The training is being conducted to provide a platform for aspiring agri-preneurs to learn and be inspired by the entrepreneurial journey of the mentors online,” Esguerra said in a statement.

ATI-CL Deputy Director Rosana Mula, meanwhile, encouraged the participants to make the most out of the training.

"ATI has always been very supportive in any way we can. Basta meron kaming resources (As long as we have resources). We do not hesitate to provide all the assistance. Kung bakit kailangan nandito ang KAMMP (On why the KAMMP is here) because we are not just after the production but we need to go beyond production as well," Mula said. (PNA)
