DAGUPAN CITY – Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino III said on Tuesday the provincial government is considering policies and measures before accepting tourists from outside of the Ilocos Region as part of the Ridge to Reef Travel Corridor program.

Espino said it is asking for more time to plan for the reopening since the province has too many entry points, making them unable to focus on one area only.

“We have 11 major entry points to Pangasinan, other entry points in villages are not yet included in that number,” he said during the Laging Handa Network Briefing.

Due to several entrances in the province, Espino admitted they may be able to face problems in handling the influx of tourists.

Espino said he will continue coordinating with the local chief executives of each town and city in the province who are planning to reopen their destinations to tourists.

Among the leading tourist destinations in the province are the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag, the Hundred Islands National Park (HINP) in Alaminos City, the historical Capitol complex, the province’s coastlines reaching several towns and cities, bangus (milkfish), bagoong, and even farm tourism sites in Eastern Pangasinan.

Espino assured the province will be reopened to tourists from other provinces outside of the Ilocos Region in the near future. (PNA)
