BUTUAN CITY – The Philippine National Police in Caraga Region said it will create a 48-man team dedicated to go after motorcycle-riding criminals, the chief of the Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-13) said Friday.

Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat, Jr. said the unit would consist of police officers who completed the Motorcycle Riding Course (MCRC) on Thursday.

Following their training, Caramat said the police officers have been equipped with capabilities to thwart crimes perpetrated by motorcycle-riding criminals.

“They can contribute to our anti-criminality campaign in the region as they are capable of running after motorcycle-riding suspects,” Caramat said.

The training was conducted by the PNP's Highway Patrol Group (HPG).

Caramat said the training is part of President Rodrigo R. Duterte's directive to raise the capability of the police to address the threats posed by motorcycle-riding criminals.

“PNP Chief, General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, also ordered for the deployment of more motorcycle-riding policemen especially in crime-prone and crowded areas,” Caramat said.

The MCRC is a 45-day training that focuses on the development and enhancement of skills, techniques, and procedures in operating high-performing motorcycles.

The training also includes basic and tactical law enforcement operations suitable for various situations and road conditions. (PNA)
