MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported that 330,457 individuals, or 87.2 percent of the country’s total coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases, have recovered after 636 new recoveries were recorded.
In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said the percentage is out of the country’s 378,933 total Covid-19 cases, 94.4 percent of which were mild and asymptomatic.
Of the country’s total cases, 10.9 percent or 41,291 are active cases, with 2,006 new cases logged for the day.
The majority of these active cases, or 83.3 percent, are showing mild symptoms, while 11.1 percent are without symptoms, 3.6 percent are in critical condition, and 2 percent are experiencing severe symptoms.
The province of Batangas reported the highest number of new infections with 124, followed by Cavite with 121, Quezon City with 105, Rizal with 89, and Bulacan with 81.
Some 38 new deaths were also reported, bringing the total number of the country’s casualties from Covid-19 to 7,185 or 1.9 percent of the total Covid-19 infections.
The DOH also reported that the country has a relatively high number of beds and other facilities available to Covid-19 patients.
About 54 percent of the country’s 1,900 beds in intensive care units are unoccupied, along with 58 percent of 13,500 isolation beds and 65 percent of 5,900 ward beds, while 77 percent of the country’s 2,000 ventilators are available.
The department reminded the public that all cemeteries and memorial parks are closed until November 4, as ordered by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases in its Resolution 72.
It noted that these establishments are closed to prevent overcrowding and avoid the further transmission of the virus. (PNA)
