MANILA – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said the agency will bring the Diskwento Caravan in areas affected by Super Typhoon Rolly.

During a cabinet meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte Monday evening, Lopez said DTI eyes to hold Diskwento Caravan in two to three local government units (LGUs) this week for consumers in areas affected by “Rolly” to avail of basic and prime commodities at discounted price.

He added that DTI is partnering with Department of Agriculture to also have the Bagsakan Center in areas where Diskwento Caravan will be held.

“Generally, prices are stable because the flow of goods and services was resumed immediately,” Lopez said.

The trade chief also mentioned that supply of goods is generally stable in typhoon-hit areas. He added that inventory of groceries in these areas are usually for two to four days.

He, likewise, reminded retailers and consumers that there is price freeze in areas placed under state of calamity. There should be no movement in prices of basic commodities in areas where price freeze is being imposed.

Meanwhile, Lopez said DTI is ready to provide livelihood kits for entrepreneurs that were affected by the typhoon.

Microfinancing facility can also be availed by affected entrepreneurs, he added. (PNA)
