SAN JACINTO, Pangasinan – An employee of the local government here was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman early Tuesday morning.

In an interview, San Jacinto chief of police Maj. Edgar Allan Serquina identified the victim as Ofelia Castillo, 56, a resident of Barangay San Jose.

She was the town’s head of the Human Resource (HR) department, and was a former news writer at a local radio station in Pangasinan.

Serquina said around 8:30 a.m., Castillo was on the way to work, riding a tricycle driven by her son when a still unidentified man onboard a Yamaha Mio scooter tailed them and shot her.
