9 suspects fall in Bacolod anti-drug ops

BACOLOD CITY – Nine drug personalities were arrested in six separate operations by drug enforcement teams of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) in the past two days.

Col. Manuel Placido, city police director, commended the operatives on Friday for their successful operations amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

On Thursday, Jerry Nombra was arrested by personnel of Police Station 8 during a buy-bust in Calong-Calong Zone 1, Barangay Singcang-Airport.

At around 10 p.m., the 26-year-old suspect sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP500 to an undercover policeman, and also yielded 3.5 grams of the same substance worth PHP25,000.

An hour earlier, operatives of Police Station 2 collared two suspects in another buy-bust in Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2.

A poseur-buyer bought a sachet of shabu worth PHP500 from Romel Parafina, 22; and Jury Distajo, 56.

Policemen also seized from the suspects 16 small sachets of shabu, weighing about three grams, with an estimated market value of PHP20,400.

At around 8:30 p.m., John Ray Gomez was arrested during a buy-bust by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit in Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago.

Gomez, 26, a high-value target, sold a sachet of the contraband for PHP500 to an undercover policeman.

The suspect, who also yielded five small sachets of shabu worth PHP6,800, is now detained at Police Station 3.

Earlier in the day, Bobby Galicia Jr., a street-level individual, was arrested during the serving of an alias warrant of arrest at around 10:30 a.m. in Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay Handumanan.

Galicia, 34, the sixth most wanted person of Police Station 10, is facing a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Regional Trial Court Branch 46 under Presiding Judge Edgar Tupas.

On Wednesday, three suspects were arrested by operatives of Police Station 7 in Purok Gaisano, Barangay Alijis.

They were identified as Jason Peruelo, 29; John Leigh Peruelo, 32; and Norberto Peruelo, 54, all residing in the area.

At around 9:30 p.m., an undercover police officer bought a sachet of shabu worth PHP500 from the suspects, who also yielded four 18 grams of the same prohibited substance valued at PHP117,000.

On the same day, Errol Olorga was caught red-handed selling shabu worth PHP200 to a poseur-buyer at around 8:40 p.m. in Purok Calachuchi, Barangay 9.

The suspect also yielded to operatives of Police Station 1 eight sachets of the same substance, weighing 1.52 grams, valued at PHP12,160. (PNA)
