ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city government here recorded a total of 2,170 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) recoveries as of Monday, or 85 percent of the total confirmed cases of 3,168 since the pandemic was declared in March.

Even with the high recovery rate, residents must still continuously practice the minimum health standards to contain the virus disease, Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said on Tuesday.

Miravite said the city has 331 active cases, 312 of which are classified as local transmission.

The rest of the active cases involved locally stranded individuals, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel and detainees

There have been 127 Covid-19 deaths since March.

“It is very important that we comply with the health safety protocols and our containment measures to be able to see a decrease in our cases (of Covid-19),” Miravite said. "This is not also the time for us to let our guards down, relax, and to have gatherings."

Meanwhile, the health official said they have also recorded 579 authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) who were infected with Covid-19, which is 18 percent of the total confirmed cases.

Miravite said that of the 579 infected APOR, 62 still have active infections, and four have died. (PNA)
