135 more beat Covid-19 as recoveries jump to 386,604

MANILA – With 135 new recoveries logged on Monday, the overall tally of Covid-19 recovered cases nationwide has reached 386,604.

In its 4 p.m. case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) also reported 1,799 new cases and 50 new deaths.

These figures brought the total number of active cases to 25,837 and death toll to 8,173.

The DOH noted that 83.5 percent of the active cases are mild, 7.8 percent are symptomatic, 2.9 percent are severe, 0.26 percent are severe, and 5.5 percent are in critical condition.

Among the areas that logged the most number of new Covid-19 cases, Cavite came first on the list with 154 infections and followed by Rizal with 144; Quezon City, 99; Bulacan, 76; and Laguna, 67.

According to a Nov. 22 DOH data, about 853 or 4.4 percent of 19,178 who tested for Covid-19 turned out positive.

As of Monday, the DOH said it has 21,300 bed-capacity for patients with Covid-19.

Available are about 56 percent of intensive care unit beds, 62 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, and 71 percent of 5,900 ward beds.

It added 81 percent of 2,000 ventilators are available for patients' use.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday reported only one Covid-19 case among overseas Filipinos.

In its latest case bulletin, DFA said the total number of confirmed cases among Filipinos abroad is now 11,560, the death toll stood at 834 while the total number of recoveries remains 7,478. About 3,248 are still undergoing treatment.

"The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continues to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipino nationals abroad amid the pandemic," the DFA statement read. (PNA)
