CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Local officials of Pandi town have declared Mimi Doringo, the secretary-general and national spokesperson of the urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayan ng Mahihirap (Kadamay), persona non-grata.
Mayor Enrico Roque on Thursday said, in an interview, the declaration was made through resolution No. 196-2020 approved during the 44th regular meeting of the Sangguniang Bayan on Dec. 14, 2020, headed by Vice Mayor Luisa Sebastian.
Roque said local officials cannot tolerate Doringo’s lack of respect for government officials and law enforcers.
“In a quiet and orderly community here in Pandi, there is no room for a personality like Doringo whose desire is violent and disrespectful to a town leader, we will not allow their fighting ideologies to prevail over this town,” the mayor said.
The declaration was rooted in connection with the rally held by leaders and members of the Kadamay Pandi chapter last November in Barangay Mapulang Lupa where the group expressed their grievances to the government regarding the issues on housing, water, and power supplies.
“Hindi namin pinayagang mag-rally ang Kadamay nung kanilang anniversary nitong November dito sa Pandi for security and health reasons dahil may mga manggagaling pa sa Manila (We did not allow Kadamay to rally during their anniversary this November here in Pandi for security and health reasons because there are still people coming from Manila),” Roque said.
The mayor said Doringo reportedly shouted during their illegal rally some rude words against him, Sebastian, town councilors, and acting Pandi chief of police, Lt. Col. Jordan Santiago.
“Hinayaan naming siyang maglabas-pasok sa bayan ng Pandi kahit nalalagay sa risk ang health at security ng buong bayan pero ‘yung bastusin niya kami sa sarili naming bayan, ibang usapan na yun (We allowed her to go in and out in Pandi even though the health and security of the whole town are at risk but she insulted us in our own town and that’s another matter),” Roque added.
