Over 600 hotels, resorts in W. Visayas now authorized to operate

BACOLOD CITY – Some 638 accommodation establishments (AEs) in Western Visayas can now receive bookings after securing certificates of authority to operate (CAOs) and provisional certificates of authority to operate (PCAOs) from the Department of Tourism (DOT) as of December 15.

As of Friday, a list released by the DOT-6 showed that the AEs include 334 with CAOs and 304 with PCAOs, having a total of 12,351 available rooms, located in six provinces and two highly-urbanized cities across the region.

In Aklan, there are six with CAOs and 36 with PCAOs, with a total of 626 available rooms while in Boracay Island, 266 establishments all have CAOs, having a total of 6,139 available rooms.

Antique has 51 hotels, resorts, and inns with PCAOs, with 359 rooms open for bookings while Capiz has 30 establishments with CAOs, with 315 available rooms.

In Guimaras, one establishment has an CAO while 24 others has PCAOs for a total of 285 available rooms.

Meanwhile, in Iloilo Province, 40 establishments have PCAOs, having a total of 439 available rooms while Iloilo City, 12 establishments have CAOs and 56 have PCAOs, with a total of 2,473 rooms.

In Negros Occidental, 18 hotels, resorts, inns, and pension houses have CAOs while 65 others have PCAOs, all having 816 available rooms while in Bacolod City, one establishment has a CAO while 32 others have PCAOs, with a total of 898 rooms.

In a previous post on Facebook, the DOT-6 said that these AEs are authorized to proceed with limited operation during the enforcement of the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ). (PNA)
