51 LGUs, 4 civil groups in C. Luzon cited for anti-drug efforts

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A total of 51 local government units (LGUs) and four civil society organizations (CSOs) in Central Luzon have been recognized for their efforts in supporting the government in its fight against illegal drugs.

The conferment was given during the 2020 Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Special Awards ceremony held online on Friday and led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), chair of the ADAC National Audit Team.

The awardees in the region are the municipalities of Hermosa in Bataan, San Simon in Pampanga, and San Narciso in Zambales for being able to sustain the drug-cleared status of their drug-affected barangays.

Those cities and municipalities in the region that were cited for being able to maintain their drug-unaffected barangays are the towns of Abucay, Bagac, Hermosa, Limay, Pilar, and Balanga City in Bataan; Doña Remedios Trinidad in Bulacan; Casiguran, Dilasag, Dinalungan, Dingalan, Maria Aurora, and San Luis in Aurora; Bongabon, Carranglan, Cuyapo, Talugtug, and Palayan City in Nueva Ecija; Apalit, Bacolor, Candaba, Floridablanca, Mabalacat City, Magalang, Masantol, Minalin, Porac, San Luis, Sasmuan, and Sto. Tomas in Pampanga; Bamban, Capas, Gerona, Mayantoc, Moncada, Paniqui, Pura, Santa Ignacia, Victoria, and Tarlac City in Tarlac; Botolan, Masinloc, Palauig, San Antonio, San Marcelino, San Narciso, Sta. Cruz, and Subic in Zambales.

DILG 3 (Central Luzon) Director Julie J. Daquioag congratulated the awardees for heeding President Rodrigo Duterte’s call to support the war against illegal drugs.

Daquiaog said the DILG will continue to strengthen the LGUs in their initiatives to combat the illegal drug problem.

On the other hand, the four civil society organizations in the region awarded for working relentlessly on their anti-illegal drugs programs amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic are the Ako ang Saklay, Inc. in Nueva Ecija; Christian Ministerial Association of Pulilan, Inc. in Bulacan; Anti-Crime and Community Response Team, Inc. also in Bulacan; and the Casiguran Ministerial Fellowship in Aurora.

The 2020 ADAC Special Awards recognizes LGUs for their relentless effort in eradicating the drug menace with drug prevention programs from 2017 to 2019 and the outstanding CSOs for their exemplary efforts on their role in complementing the national government’s anti-illegal drug programs amid the pandemic.
