MANILA – Around 1,590 families or some 6,702 persons residing in 57 barangays in Regions 11 (Davao) and 13 (Caraga) were affected by the heavy rains and flooding spawned by Tropical Depression Vicky, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday.
The report, signed and released by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, said around 1,328 families or 5,464 persons are now being sheltered in 58 evacuation centers while 43 families or 275 individuals are being aided outside.
It added infrastructure damage was placed at PHP105 million in the Caraga.
The agency also reported that six road sections and one bridge in Regions 8 (Eastern Visayas), 11, and the Caraga were affected by "Vicky".
Eighty-three houses were damaged -- 62 classified as "totally damaged" and 21 "partially damaged" in Cebu.
As this developed, NDRRMC deputy spokesperson Mark Cashean Timbal, in an interview over DZMM radio Sunday, said they are still awaiting official reports regarding the three alleged fatalities attributed to "Vicky" in Mahaplag, Leyte.
"Nakatangap po tayo ng ulat na meron tayong tatlong kababayan na nasawi dyan sa Mahaplag, Leyte pero inaantay pa po natin yung official report mula sa DOH (Department of Health) at LGU (local government unit) for the cause of death ng mga kababayan natin dyan (We have received reports that three of our countrymen were reported killed in Mahaplag, Leyte but we are still waiting for the official report of the DOH and the LGU for their exact cause of death)," he added.
Timbal also said the same for the three reported dead and other casualties in Agusan Del Sur.
"Yun dyan for sa Agusan (Del Sur) we're waiting for the complete report din po kaya baka later po today ay magkaroon tayo ng adjustment sa count ng casualties natin (For Agusan Del Sur, we're waiting for the complete report, so maybe later we could have an adjustment on the count for the casualties)," he added.
