MANILA – At least 27 more police officers have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the tally of Covid-19 recoveries in the Philippine National Police (PNP) to 9,008 as of Wednesday night.
Based on the latest data from the PNP Administrative Support for Covid-19 Task Force, recoveries stand at more than 90 percent of a total of 9,381 Covid-19 cases in the police force since March last year.
The death toll remains at 28.
PNP deputy chief for administration Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar reported that the police force currently has 345 active cases.
As of Monday, a total of 80,932 have been tested for Covid-19, or 36.86 percent of a total of 219,573 PNP members, Eleazar said.
To date, 2,389 or 75.48 percent of 3,165 police officers in the national headquarters have been given Covid-19 tests, along with 26,238 or 75.40 percent of 34,800 police officers assigned in national support units and 52,305 or 28.80 percent of 181,608 police officers in regional offices.
Earlier, the PNP reminded all police personnel to wear face masks and face shields even inside police stations and offices as it implemented a new guideline that will help strengthen the efforts to prevent the spread of the disease.
He, however, said only those who would be found not wearing a face mask and face shield at the time of the close contact with infected personnel are covered by the mandatory quarantine order. (PNA)
