MANILA – As part of its efforts to upgrade its mobile network, Globe Telecom Inc. on Wednesday said recent upgrades will provide its users in Pampanga, Laguna, and Batangas with a better quality of calls, SMS, and data services.

In a statement, Globe said the upgrade to 4G or LTE technology from 3G has been completed in these provinces, with customers now able to utilize significantly better data services with 4G or LTE-capable handsets.

Joel Agustin, Globe senior vice president for Program Delivery, Network Technical Group, said the site upgrades serve as proof of the company’s effort to improve data experience and have 4G LTE as its new standard of mobile data technology.

“We are encouraging all Globe customers in the area to update their SIMs to the 5G-ready 4G LTE SIM and their devices to the 4G LTE capable devices. Doing so will allow them to experience the service improvements with faster and more reliable internet services,” Agustin said.

He said various network upgrades are ongoing in other “key provinces” to fast-track efforts to accommodate the increasing demand for data services especially in the new normal.

He noted that these upgrades will not be experienced by customers who are still using non-4G/LTE-compatible sim cards and non-4G/LTE-compliant mobile phones.

“We are doing our best to give them the best possible services but we also need their support and cooperation now to realize the promises and the many opportunities that the 4G LTE network brings,” Agustin said.

Globe mobile users interested in upgrading to 4G or 5G-compatible sims may do so free-of-charge by visiting a Globe Store. (PNA)
