MANILA – Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Debold Sinas, has ordered the relief of the chief of Binangonan police from his post amid alleged extortion activities of his personnel.

In an interview Friday, Sinas said Lt. Col. Ferdinand Ancheta was relieved pending ongoing investigation for his negligence, aside from being ordered to report to Police Regional Office 4-A (CALABARZON) director, Brig. Gen. Felipe Natividad for the duration of the probe.

Ancheta was replaced by Major Amadeo Estrella III.

Ancheta was relieved following the arrest of two civilian agents of the Binangonan Municipal Police Station by operatives of the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group due to supposed extortion activities.

Police said the suspects allegedly extorted money from one Stephen Kellu in exchange for the release of an impounded motorcycle.

Initial investigations indicated that other police personnel were also involved in this scheme. (PNA)
