MANILA – Maxus Philippines targets to increase its sales volume this year by five times amid the ongoing pandemic and safeguard measures slapped on imported vehicles, its new general manager Jun Cajayon said.
Cajayon said its latest sport utility vehicle (SUV) model Maxus D60 will contribute to the brand's sales expansion for this year.
Maxus officially launched D60 in the Philippine market on Friday, its fifth model introduction here since it started the local operation in 2019.
Maxus D60 has two variants—the five-seater Pro variant and the seven-seater Elite variant.
“This is the first of five model introductions that we are planning for this year,” said Cajayon.
Last year, sales driver for Maxus in the Philippines are G10 and G50 vans and the T60 pick-up vehicle.
Cajayon said Maxus will be expanding its networks across the country.
“Of course we are not resting, and we want to maximize the opportunities in the markets,” he said. “We are planning at least five dealer appointments.”
These new dealerships that Maxus eyes to open this year are in southern and northern parts of Luzon as well as in Mindanao, the executive added.
Currently, Maxus has eight dealership networks in the country – four in Metro Manila, three in the Visayas, and one in Cagayan de Oro.
Maxus is one of the brands locally distributed by AC Motors, the automotive group of Ayala Corp.
The British-origin brand is now owned and produced by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (PNA)
