COTABATO CITY – The local government of Lebak and the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) lauded on Friday the locals for helping save marine wildlife.

Four residents of Barangay Tibpuan, a coastal village of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat were given citations and food packs by the local government and MENRO for their contribution to the campaign to protect marine life.

The four, identified as Windy Tibod, Solidad Dubduban, Irene Mae Padasas, and Anther Iwag have rescued nine turtle hatchlings from the Ramirez Beach Resort in Barangay Tibpuan on Thursday.

Lebak Mayor Frederic Celestial has launched a program that provides incentives to anyone who helps or turns over marine wildlife they found on high seas or in distress to the local DENR office.

Celestial said he fully supports the MENRO slogan “protect wildlife, protect the environment”. (PNA)
