MANILA – Authorities arrested a man for keeping unlicensed guns in his house in Kalinga.

In a statement on Saturday, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said Aggawoc Suyam was arrested in an operation in his house in Isla Basao, Barangay San Juan in Tabuk City on Friday.

Suyam has a standing warrant of arrest for illegal possession of firearms issued by the Lubuagan, Kalinga Regional Trial Court Branch 39.

“Even while the PNP is preoccupied with its mandate to implement public safety health protocols and to provide support to the national vaccination program, we are actively monitoring criminal activities in the local communities,“ Sinas said.

Confiscated from Suyam were a contender .45 caliber pistol; a US .30 caliber with a defaced serial number, magazine assemblies for M-16 rifle, a US carbine, a .45 caliber pistol; a camouflage tactical rig, and 338 rounds of assorted ammunition for various firearms.

An onsite inventory of the confiscated items was witnessed by barangay officials media representatives, and the suspect. (PNA)
