DENR employee shot dead in Tacloban

TACLOBAN CITY – An employee of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) was shot dead by unidentified gunmen Tuesday morning.

The police identified the victim as Rodolfo Concillo, 59, forest technician of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-CENRO in Palo, Leyte.

Gunmen attacked him just a few meters away from his residence in Apitong village.

Around 7:30 a.m., Concillo was driving a motorcycle heading to the city’s downtown area for his medical check-up when the gunmen shot him multiple times.

As a forest technician, he is tasked to conduct forest assessment and inventory of forest occupants and facilitate the conduct of community mapping in the preparation of forest management or development plan.

The CENRO office in Palo town covers the first legislative district of Leyte.

The Tacloban police is still investigating the incident. (PNA)
